How to Clean Ceramic Pans and Cookware?

The kitchen is the heart of the home indeed. It is where healthy meals are prepared lovingly for family and friends. If you love cooking, you will certainly look for fancy cookware as well as utensils that will help you better enjoy the experience of concocting delicious meals. And if you don’t enjoy cooking, you should consider upgrading your kitchen as well as the items in your kitchen. This will bring magic into your home and make you fall in love with meal preparation!

As you look for cookware to help you prepare meals for your loved ones, you can consider the option of ceramic pans. These are quite popular in many parts of the world. But before you make your purchase, there are certain things that you should know about these pans.

What exactly is a ceramic pan?

The name can be a little misleading. While you may expect a pan made wholly of ceramic, it is not what you will find. The base of the pan is made using metal, such as cast iron and stainless steel. A ceramic coating is bonded to the metal, so the insides of the pan, are white.

Ceramic pans are quite aesthetically appealing and often come in a variety of colors too. You will be able to use these pans for a very long period of time if you take care of them well.

Read on and find out a few tips which will help you to clean your ceramic pans and cookware so you will be able to keep them looking brand new for longer.

Care before use

It is quite important to make sure that you clean your ceramic pans before you use them. The new pans can carry harmful contaminants. You should always give a thorough clean to the items that you use in the kitchen as soon as they are taken off their packaging.

Make sure you wash the new pans in hot, soapy water. After washing the pan, use a soft, clean, and dry dishcloth to wipe it clean. Your new pan is ready to be used now!

General cleaning tips

Of course, your pan should be thoroughly and safely cleaned after every use. Warm water and soap will be enough to keep your pan clean and safe. Keep in mind that you should avoid scouring the ceramic surface with metal pads or steel wool in order to take out stubborn stains. This will damage the surface.

You should also avoid washing the ceramic pans in the dishwasher. The detergents in the dishwasher may contain harsh chemicals which may harm the ceramic coating. Always hand wash the pans to ensure they are cleaned in a safe manner.

Pay attention to the temperature of the pan before cleaning it

Always make sure the pan is cooled before you submerge it in water. Drastic temperature changes are not good for your ceramic pan. So, take your time as you go about cleaning them. Remove the contents in the pan and allow it to cool down completely before you attempt to clean it.

Tackling tough stains

No matter how well you care for your ceramic pans, eventually, there will be tough stains to deal with! Since we mentioned that harsh detergents and metal pads (which are generally called to service when tough stains need to be dealt with) are not perfect partners for your ceramic cookware, you should look for alternative measures.

If you find burnt food particles stubbornly stuck on the bottom, you should soak the pan in warm soapy water for about 30 minutes, until the food particles loosen and release the grip. Once the pan is clean, you should wash it and dry it.

If, however, the soaking doesn’t help much, you can use baking soda. Liberally sprinkle the pan with baking soda, let it sit for 30 minutes, and then scrub it with a sponge or a soft cloth. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

If you find your ceramic pains painfully stained, fear not! There is a solution for that as well. You can use the hydrogen peroxide that you find in your first-aid kit to treat the discoloration. Make sure you use three percent hydrogen peroxide and watch if it bubbles once it is added to the pan. If it doesn’t bubble, you may want to buy a new bottle and start the process fresh. You will be rewarded with bright white ceramic pans once you do this!  You can even use hydrogen peroxide to take out stains on your ceramic pots or plates.

Storing the ceramic pans

Do ensure that you store your cleaned and dried ceramic pans in a safe manner. If you are stacking them one on top of another, try to use a pad between each pan. You will be able to find these kitchen accessories online at Table Matters. You will avoid nasty scratches on the ceramic coating when you use this method to store them.

A ceramic pan is a great investment for sure. They need a bit of extra loving, but you will certainly be able to enjoy your cooking experiences more when you have these stylish pieces in your kitchen.
